Youth Hub to continue supporting young people across Runnymede

The Elmbridge and Runnymede Youth Hub, which aims to support 16-24 year olds across the two boroughs into employment, is to continue its work for another 12-month period after the two councils were successful in securing funding from the Department of Work and Pensions.

The Youth Hub, which is delivered in partnership with Brooklands College, has helped over one hundred young people since launching in October 2021 and works with a wide range of partners to provide a plethora of employment support including work experience, mentoring, CV guidance, and wellbeing advice.

New plan launched to help shape local talent

A new plan to improve skills across Surrey has been approved by the Government. The Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) was developed by Surrey Chambers of Commerce after months of consultation with businesses. The plan aims to put employers at the heart of the skills system and ensure that local businesses’ voices are heard to help shape the skills and training provision locally.

Free event: Motor vehicle industry skills summit

Surrey Chambers of Commerce and Hampshire Chamber of Commerce have partnered with the IMI (Institute of Motor Industry) to host a skills summit based around the recruitment and skills challenges facing the motor industry.

It is an opportunity for businesses, providers and other key stakeholders in the local skills system to come together to discuss, identify and agree actions to address the challenges faced within the industry, particularly around attracting and retaining staff and upskilling the existing workforce.
